Creality Launches K3 Multicolor 3D Printer with Fast Nozzle Swapping

Creality has introduced the K3, a four-nozzle 3D printer designed for multicolor printing, now available for pre-sale in China. The printer features a rapid nozzle-switching system that can reduce print times by 80% and filament waste by 85% compared to traditional models.

Introduction of the K3 3D Printer

Creality has officially launched its K3 multicolor 3D printer, which boasts four independent nozzles and is available for pre-sale in China at an introductory price of ¥4,599 (approximately $680). The company plans to offer the printer internationally for under $900.

Innovative Features

The K3 is engineered to produce multicolor and multi-material parts in a single print run. Using Creality's KliTek nozzle-changing system, it allows for quick transitions between nozzles, taking about five seconds per switch. This method is reported to cut print times by 80% and filament waste by around 85% compared to single-nozzle multicolor printers.

The printer supports nozzles of various diameters (0.2mm, 0.4mm, 0.6mm, and 0.8mm) and is optimized for flexible TPU filaments, enabling the combination of different hardness levels in a single object. It also supports CMYK full-color printing, leveraging the translucency of filaments to achieve color blending.

Design and Performance

Built with a high-rigidity aluminum frame, the K3 features a pin-style mechanical coupling for precise positioning of each nozzle. Creality claims the nozzle changer maintains a repeat positioning accuracy of 25 micrometers, even after extensive testing involving over 600,000 rapid swaps. The printer is equipped with 37 high-precision sensors, with 12 dedicated to monitoring nozzle changes.

Compatibility and Customization

The K3 comes with root access enabled, allowing users to customize hardware and software as needed. It includes support for Creality Print 7.0 and later, along with compatibility for OrcaSlicer. A multi-nozzle kit will be available separately, and the printer's Klipper-based firmware will be released in stages following the launch.
